Frequently asked questions
How does the world clock handle daylight saving?
It reads each city's rules from your device's time zone database, so the time shown already includes daylight saving where it applies.
Can I add a city that is not listed?
Yes. Pick a time zone from the list under the clocks and press Add. Your extra clocks are remembered on this device only.
How to use the world clock
The clock shows the live time in 24 major travel cities, updated every second from your device's clock, and you can add any other time zone from the list. Each city shows its offset from UTC, the world reference time; a city at UTC+9 is nine hours ahead of London in winter, and the offset shifts by an hour when daylight saving starts or ends, which the clock handles automatically.
Two practical uses: before you travel, find a time that works for both home and destination so you can arrange calls, check-ins and pick-ups without waking anyone; while away, check the time at home before you phone. If you need the exact gap between two specific places, including a meeting-time converter, use the time difference calculator. Remember that a few countries use half-hour or quarter-hour offsets, such as India at UTC+5:30 and Nepal at UTC+5:45, so a quick mental calculation can be off by thirty minutes.
